All firearm permit applications are completed through the Indiana State Police website now:

Firearms permits are a two-step process:

 

1. Visit the State Police website listed above.  When there, click on Firearms Application Process, fill out the application and submit the application.  Note: It will NOT let you print out the application.

 

2. You also need to visit the police agency in your jurisdiction in order to pay local fees and sign the application.  For example, if you live within the city limits of Lebanon, you will go to the Lebanon City Police Department. You will go to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office if you do not live within any city or town limits; hours are M-F from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., office is closed for lunch on Tuesday & Friday from noon - 1 p.m..  No appointment necessary. Cash (correct change only) money order or personal check are accepted for payment of local fees at the Sheriff's office.

 

Permit  Fees:

 

Lifetime Permit upgrade from a four year permit that is still current:

Total  $100.00  = $40.00 local fees and a $60.00 money order made payable to the “State of Indiana”

Lifetime Permit/upgrade without a current permit:

Total  $125.00 = $50.00 local fees and a $75.00 money order made payable to the “State of Indiana”

4 Year Permit:

Total $40.00  = $10.00 local fees and a $30.00 money order made payable to the “State of Indiana”

 

You must have present a valid driver’s license or State ID with you that reflects your CORRECT address as well.

 

NOTE: As of March, 2013, the Indiana State Police Firearms Licensing Section advises that there is a minimum of a 16 week (4 month) back log of applications.  If you wish to check on the status of your application after that amount of time, please call 317-232-8264.
