Boone County Placed Under “Warning” Travel Advisory

County Offices Closed Monday, January 26

Boone County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), in coordination with the Boone County Commissioners, has placed Boone County under a “Red” or “Warning” Travel Advisory effective 6:40 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

This is the highest level of local travel advisory and indicates that travel may be restricted to emergency management workers only.

As a result of the advisory, all Boone County offices will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.

During a “Warning” travel advisory, individuals are directed to:

  • Refrain from all travel
  • Comply with necessary emergency measures
  • Cooperate with public officials and disaster services personnel in the execution of emergency operations plans
  • Obey and comply with the lawful directions of properly identified law enforcement and emergency personnel

County officials stress that these measures are necessary to protect public safety and to allow emergency crews to operate without interference during hazardous conditions.

Additional exceptions to the “Warning” travel advisory are outlined in Indiana Code 10-14-3-29.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local media and official Boone County communication channels for updates as conditions change.
